MOUNTAIN BROOK, AL — In what many are calling a travel ball team disguised as a tailgate party, a group of former University of Alabama frat-stars-turned-dads have come together to form the Yacht Rockers, a new 10U team focused on “Creating a team with a chill vibe… but also relentless competitiveness and elite-level walk-up songs,” said head coach Harrison Whittaker IV.

Whittaker IV—who wore boat shoes and no socks to tryouts—says the concept was born over a group text that spiraled after someone said, “What if we just made it about the vibe?”

“I mean, if we’re gonna give up our weekends and vacations for this,” said Whittaker IV, “we might as well bring the vacation to us. We want our team to give off the feel that Patagonia and 30-A hooked up and had a baby.”

Whittaker, who spoke to reporters wearing a pair of Costas under a green mallard rope hat was emphatic that “Walk-up songs are strictly limited to Jimmy Buffett, Zach Bryan, and REO Speedwagon.” One mom, asking to remain anonymous, commented, “These middle-aged frat boys just want to relive their glory years when they were at Bama. I mean, everybody can see their Sigma Nu tattoo on their ankles—and everybody can see they’re real proud of it.”

The coaching staff, comprised entirely of former Bama fraternity brothers, insists this is about the kids. “Sure, we rocked Widespread Panic and Rollin’ in the Hay back in the day,” said assistant coach Blake as he sipped something suspicious from his beat-up Yeti cup, “but now we’re channeling that energy into our sons’ baseball.  Just keepin’ it frat.”

The Yacht Rockers are 0-6 in the first two tournaments this Spring.  Beth, one of the moms, complained, “They might win if they practiced as much as they took “coaches retreats” at Harrison’s parents’ place on Lake Martin.  Whittaker IV responded, “We’re just building something special here.”

As of press time, the coaches are talking with Good People Brewing Company and Kinnucan’s for sponsorships.
